Using catalyst with Bound Base PRO
Catalyst is a required supporting product for the Bound Base PRO system and is supplied separately from the binder and full kits. It must be used when the temperature is below 15°C. It can also be used at any temperature within the product’s application range where faster curing is required to help complete the full installation on the same day.
- Suggested dose: 1ml of catalyst per 4.5kg pack of Bound Base PRO binder.
- Mixing: measure the catalyst and mix it thoroughly into the binder before combining the binder with the specified aggregates.
- Overlay time: typically 2–6 hours, depending on temperature and site conditions. Catalyst can help accelerate curing, but same-day completion depends on conditions.
Follow the Bound Base PRO installation guide and product safety information.
Using catalyst with UVR PRO
In order to aid the curing process of UVR resin, VA5 Pro Catalyst for resin bound gravel should be added to the mix. It must be added when the temperature is below 15°C.
A catalyst is needed to increase the rate of a chemical reaction. Catalysts for resin bound gravel should be used in temperatures between 5–15°C.
See the Instructions section for the separate mixing directions for each system.

Instructions
BOUND BASE PRO: Suggested dose: 1ml of catalyst per 4.5kg binder pack. Catalyst must be used below 15°C and can also be used at any temperature within the product’s application range where faster curing is required to help complete the full installation on the same day. Measure the catalyst and mix it thoroughly into the Bound Base PRO binder before combining the binder with the specified aggregates. Bound Base PRO is a single-part binder. Typical overlay time is 2–6 hours, depending on temperature and site conditions. Follow the Bound Base PRO installation guide and product safety information. UVR PRO: Depending on the temperature reading, you may need either 1ml, 2ml or 3ml measures of catalyst. Please contact us at head office if you need further information on the measures. If there is too much catalyst to the mix, it will be difficult to trowel and you can get stuck. The catalyst is whisked into the Part A of the Resin Bound UVR Pro for 15 seconds, before mixing Part A and Part B together. The VA5 Pro Catalyst is sold in 200ml measures. A little will go a long way therefore this product can cover many jobs without replenishment.FAQ'S
