The Resin Mill celebrates switch to conscious packaging

Eco-friendly packaging to pave the way to a sustainable business

Award-winning resin material producer is making a green move to environmentally-friendly packaging and taking a step closer to becoming a fully sustainable business. Based in Huddersfield, The Resin Mill is transitioning from white virgin plastic to grey post-consumer recycled plastic buckets, lids and handles, which can be recycled again and better support a seamless circular economy for plastic. The switch forms part of The Resin Mill’s commitment to driving the process towards reducing plastic waste. The move further advances progress toward the company’s goal to use recycled plastic packaging for all its products by the end of 2024.
Jason Wainwright, managing director at The Resin Mill, said: “We are delighted to be making the switch to 100% recycled packaging, which will make a real difference in helping us reduce our environmental impact. “We’re continuing to work towards eliminating virgin plastic from our products and helping customers keep informed that our resin bound surfaces have less impact on the planet.”
Consumer demand for sustainable products has grown in the last several years. According to Futerra’s survey, 88% of shoppers feel strongly that companies should help improve the environment. The Resin Mill’s move to eco-friendly packaging will help support consumers in improving their environmental footprint whilst at the same time have a huge positive impact on the company’s total brand sustainability.
Scott Haley, operations director at The Resin Mill, said: “By transitioning to post-consumer recycled materials, we are tackling the issue of ‘take, make and dispose’ of our packaging. We all have a critical role to play by recycling used packaging and that is why we’re working with our contractors to encourage them to recycle our buckets after installations.”
As part of its sustainability initiative, the company has already introduced 70% recycled plastic bags for its pre-mixed aggregates and has moved to recycled plastic weather shields. It is also working in partnership with a company that recycles used cardboard, plastic bags and wrapping sheets.
