Tips for permeable paving
I have put together top tips for permeable paving installation.
– Use a kneeling board so that you don’t get resin on your clothes when trowelling your permeable paving.
– When trowelling porous pavement, don’t forget to put your body weight behind the trowel to ensure you kneed the mixture together.
– For an even finish, once you have done 4-5 forwards and backwards motions, you will need a bucket of white spirit to hand with a cloth to wipe the back of the trowel.

– Trowelling a large area of permeable paving? It’s easy to miss trowel marks because the material can blend in to one! It’s always helpful to have one of your colleagues check your work as you go.
– Make sure you fluff up the edge that you are working to. This will give you longer playing time with the resin!
– For larger permeable paving projects, always ensure you the aggregates from separate pallets before they go in to the mixture. Our gravel is a natural product and mixing will help prevent colour variation in the batches.
– Moisture is not your friend!
– Scatter your crushed glass as evenly as possible across the permeable paving but don’t worry if you are too heavy in one area as it will wear over time.
– Always over calculate your resin bound materials by 10%. You never know when you might need that bit extra! Once it’s laid and you realise you don’t have enough material on site to finish the job, it’s too late.
– Make sure you can still shut any gates and garage doors on your resin bound driveway. It might be worth checking with your client if the garage is set to its highest level already.
