Bound Base PRO Binder is the single-part polyurethane resin used to bind the aggregate in the Bound Base PRO permeable base system. Choose this binder-only pack when you are sourcing the specified aggregate separately for a resin bound driveway, pathway or other suitable surfacing project.
What is Bound Base PRO?
Bound Base PRO is a resin bound base course that provides a stable, permeable foundation beneath decorative resin bound surfacing. It combines Resin Mill’s single-part polyurethane binder with specified aggregates and is installed with 50kN structural reinforcement mesh above and below the base layer.
Designed as an alternative to a traditional asphalt or concrete base course, it forms part of the complete surface construction. It sits above a properly prepared, free-draining sub-base and beneath the decorative resin bound finish.
Why use Bound Base PRO?
- A permeable foundation: the base allows water to pass through into a suitably designed sub-base and drainage system.
- Quicker progression on site: a typical overlay time of 2 to 6 hours helps installers move on to the decorative surface. Catalyst can accelerate curing to help complete the full installation on the same day, subject to site conditions.
- Straightforward mixing: the single-part binder avoids measuring and combining separate resin components. Catalyst is added when required.
- Reinforced construction: the system uses 50kN Structural Reinforcement Mesh above and below the base course to help distribute loads and improve crack resistance.
Bound Base PRO is a base layer, not the finished wearing surface. Ground preparation, sub-base design and drainage must suit the site and intended traffic. Follow the full Resin Mill system specification.
Pack contents and mixing
4.5kg of Bound Base PRO binder supplied in an 11 litre bucket, leaving space to mix in catalyst. Binder only; aggregate is not included.
Mix 4.5kg of Bound Base PRO binder with 100kg of aggregate. Add 5kg of Binding Quartz for all heavy traffic and commercial applications.
The 4.5kg binder is supplied in an 11 litre bucket to allow space for mixing in catalyst. Catalyst is required below 15°C. It can also be used at all temperatures within the product’s application range where faster curing is required to help complete the full installation on the same day. Suggested dose: 1ml per 4.5kg binder pack.
Allow approximately 2–6 hours before overlaying, depending on temperature and site conditions. Follow the Bound Base PRO installation guide.
Calculate how much of this product you need based on meters squared. We recommend increasing the total m2 of the area by 5-10% to allow for wasteage and uneven surfaces.

Read the full Bound Base PRO Installation Instructions in the Data Sheets tab before installing. The system requires 50kN reinforcement mesh below and above the base. We recommend ordering 10% extra mesh for overlaps, offcuts and waste: project area × 2 × 1.10. Use 4.5kg binder with 100kg aggregate, adding 5kg Binding Quartz for every heavy traffic and commercial batch. Catalyst is required below 15°C and may also be used throughout the product's 5–30°C application range to accelerate curing. Suggested dose: 1ml per 4.5kg binder pack.
